William Purpura has extensive leadership and market experience, currently serving his fourth term as Chairman of the COMEX Governors, after becoming a member in 1981. In 1987 he co-founded Great Lakes Metals, Inc., one of the largest brokers on COMEX, with major bullion banks, fund managers and large professional traders as his clients.
Mr. Purpura is one of the first foreigners to establish a trading and technology presence in Mainland China, establishing Northport Commodities in Singapore, serving as an advisor to the Shanghai Gold Exchange, Senior Vice President at NYMEX, and a consultant for CME, HKEx, SFC, CSRC, SHFE, Dalian Commodity Exchange, major banks and brokerages in China and Hong Kong. He is a member the Board of Advisors to the Faculty of Business at the University of Macau.
Mr. Purpura is also a partner at Ridgeline Partners and a global consultant in corporate leadership, fund management and security.Clients include Verizon, AOL, Microsoft, Disney, AIG, and professional sports teams, among others. As one of the founders of Dillon Gage Asia, a distributor for major sovereign mints from the US, Canada, China, Great Britain and others, Mr. Purpura is active in metals markets around the globe.
